Albert George Pound.
During World War One many British Soldiers used to be given a little bear by their sweethearts and loved ones. These bears had eyes that were high up on their heads which peeped out of the soldiers' top pockets.
I started making replicas of these bears many years ago and they are still one of my favourite bears. I name them after real soldiers that fought in this war or you can chose who you would like to dedicate the bear to. This bear  is  named after Albert George Pound who was in the Queen's own Worcestershire Cavalry and died aged 24
This Soldier Bear is made from blonde mohair that I have plucked shaded and waxed and added faux stitches to for a "Well Loved" look. He has one brown and one clear glass eye, a stitched, waxed nose and is fully cotter pin jointed. He is stuffed with Kapok, used in the making of many early bears and has tiny steel discs in his body for added weight. He comes wearing a red, white and blue sash tied together with a rusty old safety pin with a bronze effect "Hope" charm attached.
