During World War One many British Soldiers used to be given a little bear by their sweethearts and loved ones. These bears had eyes that were high up on their heads which peeped out of the soldiers' top pockets. This little bear is my version of  one of these bears. Today they are much sought after and fetch many hundreds of pounds.

I have recently been naming the Soldier Bears after real Soldiers from WW1 obtained  from this website  http://www.rememberthefallen.co.uk/ . which also includes interesting information on each person.

If you would like a Soldier Bear made and named after anyone from the website or a loved one please contact me.
Loris Stiles SPARGO  was a Second Lieutenant  during World War One. This bear is named after him.

This little Soldier Bear is approximately 31/2 inches tall and made from a blonde mohair ' He has light brown eyes, high up on his head like the original Soldier Bears that peeped out of the Soldier's pocket. He has a stitched nose and comes wearing a red, white and blue sash  with a "hope" charm attached to it by a rusty old safety pin.

Loris is fully cotter pin jointed and stuffed with kapok, used in the making of early bears. He has steel shot in his body for added weight. I have plucked his fur, shaded and waxed him and addes faux stitches to give him the appearance of a "well loved" bear.
