Lance Sergeant George William Francis Pipe was a soldier during WW1 and was the Grandfather of a friend of mine. This bear is named after him.
George is approximately 31/2" tall and made from a lovely plumb coloured mohair He is fully cotter pin jointed and has been distressed to make him look like he has been through the wars. He has one clear glass eye and one smaller blue glass eye and a sparsely stitched nose . He has been plucked, shaded, waxed and had faux stitching to him.
George is filled with kapok, used in the making of early bears and has steel shot in his body for added weight. He wears a tatty pale blue silk sash held together with a rusty safety pin with a rusty bell attached hanging from it.
