Private John Dobbins was in the 4th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment during WW1. This Soldier Bear was named after him.
If you don't know the story of the Soldier Bears please click on the Soldier Bears link down the left hand side of the page under Shop Online.

This little Soldier Bear is approximately 31/2 inches tall and made from a scruffy grey mohair on a beige cotton backing. He has brown glass eyes high up on his head like the original Soldier Bears that peeped out of the Soldier's pocket. He has a stitched nose and comes wearing a red, white and blue sash  with a "hope" charm attached to it by a rusty old safety pin.

John is fully cotter pin jointed and stuffed with kapok, used in the making of early bears. He has steel shot in his body for added weight. I have plucked his fur, shaded and waxed him to give him the appearance of a "well loved" bear.
