Joe is Now Sold
During World War One many British Soldiers used to be given a little bear by their sweethearts and loved ones. These bears had eyes that were high up on their heads which peeped out of the soldiers' top pockets.
Joe Bagshaw is made from rusty coloured mohair on a blue background which I have plucked, shaded and waxed for a well worn look. He has brown glass eyes, one significantly larger than the other, and a sparsely stitched nose. He is approximately 31/2" tall and is fully cotter pin jointed.
Joe is filled with kapok, used in the making of early bears, with added steel shot in his body for a nice feel. He wears a tatty red, white and blue sash tied together with a rusty old safety pin and bell
