If you don't know the story of the Soldier Bears here is a little bit about them.

During World War One many British Soldiers used to be given a little bear by their sweethearts and loved ones. These bears had eyes that were high up on their heads which peeped out of the soldiers' top pockets.

The little bears on this page are my version of these bears. Today the originals are much sought after and fetch many hundreds of pounds.

I have recently been naming the Soldier Bears after real Soldiers from WW1 obtained  from this website  http://www.rememberthefallen.co.uk/ . which also includes interesting information on each person.

If you would like a Soldier Bear made and named after anyone from the website or a loved one please contact me.

Corporal William Lionel Nicklin was a Soldier during WW1 and this bear is named after him.

This Soldier Bear is one of my smaller ones at just 23/4inches. He is fully cotterpin jointed and has odd brown glass eyes.  and a stitched waxed nose. His limbs and head are firmly stuffed with kapok and his body is full of steel shot for added weight. I have plucked, shaded and waxed him and added faux stitches for an aged appearance. He wears a bronze coloured "peace" charm attached to a red, white and blue  ribbon
