Soldier Bear John Harry Nicklin Now Sold
During World War One many British Soldiers used to be given a little bear by their sweethearts and loved ones. These bears had eyes that were high up on their heads which peeped out of the soldiers' top pockets. The little bears on this page are my version of these bears. Today they are much sought after and fetch many hundreds of pounds.
I have recently been naming the Soldier Bears after real Soldiers from WW1 obtained from this website http://www.rememberthefallen.co.uk/ . which also includes interesting information on each person.
If you would like a Soldier Bear made and named after anyone from the website or a loved one please contact me.
Second Lieutenant John Harry Nicklin was a soldier during WW1
This Soldier Bear is one of my smaller ones at just 21/4inches. He is fully cotterpin jointed and has brown glass eyes and a stitched waxed nose. His limbs and head are firmly stuffed with kapok and his body is full of steel shot for added weight. I have plucked, shaded and waxed him and added faux stitches for an aged appearance. He wears a bronze coloured "hope" charm around his neck
If you would like to reserve any of the Little Scruffs on my site for up to 5 weeks a £10 deposit will secure.
