During World War One many British Soldiers used to be given a little bear by their sweethearts and loved ones. These bears had eyes that were high up on their heads which peeped out of the soldiers' top pockets. This little bear is my version of these bears
Pte Fred Relf was a soldier during WW1. This bear is named after him.
Fred is approximately 3.5 inches tall and made from a scruffy mohair, grey with added colour on a light tan background. He has 2 different coloured eyes and a sparsely stitched and waxed nose.
He has been plucked, stained and has a patch and faux stitching. Fred is fully cotterpin jointed and is filled with kapok, used in the making of early bears, with steel shot in his body for added weight,.
Fred wears a 'Peace' charm around his neck
