During World War One many British Soldiers used to be given a little bear by their sweethearts and loved ones. These bears had eyes that were high up on their heads which peeped out of the soldiers' top pockets. The Soldier Bears on this website are my version of them.
Private George Chatter was a Soldier during WW1. This Soldier Bear is named after him.
Chatter is approximately 31/2" tall and made from red spiky mohair on a lighter background. He is fully cotter pin jointed and has been distressed to make him look like he has been through the war. He has one black boot button eye and one clear glass eye and a sparsely stitched nose . He has been plucked, shaded, waxed and had faux stitching to him.
Chatter is filled with kapok, used in the making of early bears and has steel shot in his body for added weight. he wears a red, white and blue sash held together with a rusty safety pin which has a 'Peace' charm hanging from it.
If you are in the UK and would prefer to have the bear sent by the lower price of signed for please let me know and I will adjust the postage.
