During World War One many British Soldiers used to be given a little bear by their sweethearts and loved ones. These bears had eyes that were high up on their heads which peeped out of the soldiers' top pockets.

Walter Wigglesworth was a real Soldier during WW1 and this bear is named after him.

He is one of my smaller Soldier Bears and I will take more photos tomorrow to show his size better. He is just about 23/4" tall and made from blonde mohair on a brown background He has been plucked, shaded and waxed and has faux stitching for a well loved look. He has brown glass eyes and a sparsely stitched nose. He is fully cotterpin jointed and filled with kapok, used in the making of early bears and has steel shot in his body for extra weight.

Walter wears a silver coloured Hope charm around his neck.
