During World War One many British Soldiers used to be given a little bear by their sweethearts and loved ones. These bears had eyes that were high up on their heads which peeped out of the soldiers' top pockets.

John Defty was a Gunner in WW1. I have named this bear after him .

Defty is one of my tiny Soldier Bears, ideal for taking everywhere with you. He is just 23/4" tall (7cm) and made from pale blue mohair, plucked, shaded, waxed and with faux stitches added for a well worn look. He has one boot button eye and one blue glass eye with a sparsely stitched nose. He is fully cotter pin jointed and stuffed with kapok, used in the making of early bears and with steel shot in his body for added weight. John wears a silver coloured 'hope' charm around his neck.

These bears go by Royal Mail Special delivery in the UK. If you would prefer me to send him by Recorded delivery please email me first. See prices for all countries under my Terms button
