 This bear is now sold
During World War One many British Soldiers used to be given a little bear by their sweethearts and loved ones. These bears had eyes that were high up on their heads which peeped out of the soldiers' top pockets
This little Soldier Bear is made from spikey blonde mohair that I have  aged to look like he has been through the wars . I have taken his name from a Newspaper extract of  Soldiers in WW1. Pte Tom Halliday is fully cotterpin jointed and has green glass eyes and a sparsely stitched, waxed nose. he is filled with steel shot in his body and the rest stuffed with kapok used in the making of early bears. He wears a red, white and blue sash tied with a rusty old safety pin and a rusty old bell
